April Do Gooder Challenge

The Do Gooder Challenge for April is going to cost exactly $2. With tough economic times, I want to try to keep the challenges free or as low financial cost as possible - they are mostly meant as an exercise to evaluate yourself and to Do Good!

There are two parts to this challenge:

Part 1: The first part of this challenge is created more with myself in mind. If I carry cash, I spend it. So, the challenge is to put $1 in your purse or wallet. Do not spend this $1 for the entire month. Check to see how many times in the month you are tempted to spend that $1. Evaluate your reasons or what it was you were going to spend that $1 on.

Part 2: Take the second $1 and donate it to something/someone/some purpose you wouldn't normally donate to. Most of us are probably already financially helping where we can, be it through our church or favorite charity. Think outside the box this month and give that $1 to a different cause. Perhaps the clerk at the grocery store asks you to donate $1 to a particular cause the store is supporting, perhaps you buy a coloring page at a restaurant (like Chili's for St. Jude's), perhaps you give it to a homeless person on the street, you might buy a candy bar for a school fundraiser. Whatever the case may be, set the intention of purposefully giving that $1 away to a place that you wouldn't expect yourself to send it.

As usual, please post if you have an interesting story to tell about your challenge for this month, or to suggest future challenges! Have fun!
